Walking alone can be painful, yet many a called and chosen of God, had to endure seasons of aloneness and isolation. Many a major and minor prophet, spent his entire life consumed by a state of aloneness at God's will. Such a thought has been rather discomforting to me at times, though I understand better today than I did initially in my walk. God will not permit anything to separate me from His love, which is not self-sufficing, but rather self-sacrificing. If our spiritual journey is flooded with noise and inundated with a mass collection of people, something is actually lacking. Aside from a "balanced" life, there also exists the all too unpopular aloneness that God calls every believing servant to embrace. It is inevitable; yet many often ignore the strong spiritual unctions to "come away" alone unto God and be still. Being still, quiet, and alone is uncomfortable to the ambitions of our flesh, which is always engaged in some form of self-fulfilling activity chosen to satisfy our lower nature. But first things first... For in our stillness, God performs His greatest work in us, that He may be greatly spotlighted through us in His ultimate set time. How much of what we do is actual self-induced, self-gratifying, and self-centered? What if much of what we affix God's name to, is not of God after all? God instructs and guides us through our stillness, not our busy-ness; through our brokenness, not our wholeness; through our lack, not our plenty... He is still the same God of old. Believe this!
